Flora + Fauna Fine Food has been 20+ years in the making. After working in the Bay Area catering industry for over two decades, long time friends Heidi Hornikel and Tamara Ardron knew the time had come to breathe life into their dream. With a robust and well-developed culinary repertoire,  a fabulous sense of style and taste, (and a playful streak that has always served them well) this dynamic pair brings culinary and management expertise into California's beautiful Central Coast.

At Flora + Fauna Fine Food, we believe in REAL food. We believe in indulgin and delighting the senses. We believe that simple is good, and we strive to create original menus that come from that sweet spot where culinary sophistication and the humble fresh quality of ingredients meet. We believe in joyfully devouring, savoring the present moment, and most of all - in the ability of a good meal to be a conduit of happiness and authentic human connection.

-  MEET CHEF HEIDI  -

Chef Heidi has been passionate about food and cooking since the age of 12.  She began an apprenticeship at the age of 16, continued her education in classical French Cuisine and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. 

 

After relocating to San Francisco, she worked at local restaurants and bakeries for the first 4 years before beginning her catering career.  This eventually led her to become Executive Chef of a corporate catering company for over 20 years.  The diversity of the Bay Area clientele expanded her cooking knowledge with flavors from around the globe.

We are committed to using only the freshest, locally-sourced and organic ingredients in our seasonal menus. Living in this region of California, we feel very fortunate to have a plethora of premium quality, local produce, meats, and ingredients available year-round. 

Every week, we are making the rounds to our favorite farmers markets, farms and ranchers, hand-selecting the very best flavors of every season in SLO County.
